“Why Cruelty Free EO?
I have to say that while I love the fact that EO products are clean, luxurious and effective, it is as much due to my best friend Barney that I am as enthusiastic about this company as I am.
Let me explain: Barney is a 10lb Toy Fox Terrier. He came from the Marin County CA SPCA, where my wife and I found him amongst a horde of Chihuahuas, which the Humane Society folks had mistaken him for. He looked very out of place amongst their yapping enthusiasm, and his demeanor was one of “I’ll come to the front of the cage if I really have to, but as tired as I am of these roommates and their non-stop yapping, I still don’t want to be led on either!” We really felt that he needed a better place to live.
Long story short, we ended up adopting him, and there is no possible way for either my wife or I to regret it – Barney is the best!
However, when he was turned into the SPCA close to a year earlier, Barney had been found in Novato, Ca, with his little knees so badly out of alignment that he had to drag his hind-quarters around, and he had little or no use of his legs due to his genetic deformity. He had also been abused, and it appeared that he had been born into an environment in which he was not well liked or cared for, and he had been abandoned to wander the streets. Kids had been mean to him (we can tell by his reaction to most kids), and he was very skittish and submissive after all he’d been through.
The SPCA was good enough to pay for the surgery to fix his knees, and he spent about 6 months rehabilitating in San Quentin Prison with their Prisoner Care program; and by the time we found him and brought him to his new home, he was a bit wobbly, but up and around, and beginning to find his confidence as well.
Now here’s the thing which I can’t figure out: Barney is the sweetest, most loving and affectionate little best friend anyone could ever want. He looks at you with those soulful brown eyes, and his little tail wags hello, and it is impossible not to want to scratch his head and tell him how happy he makes you.
Did I mention he says “Orp!” when he yawns?
So how in the world could anyone have been mean to him? How could that have been possible?
Unfortunately, there are those in this world who do not understand that our four-legged friends deserve a pain-free existence; including some manufactures of health and beauty aids, who feel that torturing a defenseless bunny is a fantastic way to find out if a product is safe for humans!
This is but one of the many reasons that EO is a favorite in the industry: A Cruelty Free, Gluten Free, Non GMO Zero-Waste B Corporation, which makes some of the most luxurious, effective, all natural and botanical products available. We use only the finest essential oil blends and food-based elements to generate aromas – NEVER any laboratory generated, overpowering and lingering fragrances; only real, clean plant-based elements – and all manufactured right here in the Marin County – never outsourced/never tested on animals – good for you, good for our furry friends, good for our environment….enjoy!”
Scot, what an amazing story in so many different ways! Thank you for sharing with us and reminding us how good people can be!
